‘Super AI Engineer Season 5’ รวมพลังรัฐ-เอกชน-ประชาสังคม ปั้นบุคลากร AI เสริมขีดความสามารถแข่งขันไทย

ผ่านโครงการ ‘Super AI Engineer Season 5’

เพราะเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์เข้ามามีบทบาทสำคัญมากในโลกยุคปัจจุบัน ความรู้และทักษะด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ จึงกลายเป็นสิ่งจำเป็น การพัฒนากำลังคนด้านเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ จึงเป็นส่วนสำคัญที่จะรองรับการเปลี่ยนแปลงของตลาดแรงงานและอุตสาหกรรม ขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจ และเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันให้กับประเทศไทย อันจะเป็นกุญแจสำคัญในการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมไทย โครงการ Super AI Engineer จึงได้เกิดขึ้น และเมื่อวันที่ 20 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 สมาคมปัญญาประดิษฐ์ประเทศไทย (AIAT), หน่วยบริหารและจัดการทุนด้านการพัฒนากำลังคนและทุนด้านการพัฒนาสถาบันอุดมศึกษา การวิจัยและการสร้างนวัตกรรม (บพค.), กระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม (อว.), สำนักงานพัฒนาวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีแห่งชาติ (สวทช.), และมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลธัญบุรี (RMUTT) ได้จัดงานแถลงข่าวความร่วมมือการขับเคลื่อนพัฒนากำลังคนด้านเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ ระหว่างหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน ภายใต้โครงการพัฒนากำลังคนสมรรถนะสูงด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นให้เกิดนวัตกร วิศวกร และนักวิจัยด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ เพื่อรองรับการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมของประเทศท่ามกลางสถานการณ์การเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลกอย่างรวดเร็ว (Super AI Engineer Season 5) 

ซึ่งภายในงานได้รับเกียรติจาก นายพันธุ์เพิ่มศักดิ์ อารุณี รักษาการที่ปรึกษาด้านพัฒนาการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม สำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม (อว.) เป็นประธานในงาน พร้อมกับการกล่าวปาฐกถาในหัวข้อ "แนวทางนโยบายของกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัย และนวัตกรรม ท่ามกลางการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรุนแรงที่เกิดขึ้นจากเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI Disruption)"

นอกจากนี้ ดร.ภาวดี อังค์วัฒนะ รองผู้อำนวยการ หน่วยบริหารและจัดการทุนด้านการพัฒนากำลังคน และทุนด้านการพัฒนาสถาบันอุดมศึกษา การวิจัยและการสร้างนวัตกรรม (บพค.) ได้กล่าวปาฐกถา ในหัวข้อ “บพค. กับ การพัฒนาคนสมรรถนะสูงด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์”, ดร.เทพชัย ทรัพย์นิธิ นายกสมาคมปัญญาประดิษฐ์ประเทศไทย ปาฐกถา ในหัวข้อ “ปัญญาประดิษฐ์กับการพัฒนาคนเพื่อมุ่งสู่ความยั่งยืน”

และการเสวนาพิเศษในหัวข้อ “การพัฒนากำลังคนด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์จะช่วยประเทศไทยได้อย่างไร ? โดย ดร.ศวิต กาสุริยะ รองผู้อำนวยการศูนย์เทคโนโลยีอิเล็กทรอนิกส์และคอมพิวเตอร์แห่งชาติ ศูนย์เทคโนโลยีอิเล็กทรอนิกส์และคอมพิวเตอร์แห่งชาติ, รศ.ดร.ปุ่น เที่ยงบูรณธรรม รองผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายแผนและยุทธศาสตร์องค์กร หน่วยบริหารและจัดการทุนด้านการพัฒนาระดับพื้นที่ (บพท.), รศ.ดร.สมหมาย ผิวสอาด อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลธัญบุรี, คุณกวีวุฒิ  เต็มภูวภัทร Chief Innovation Officer, SCBX, คุณอำนาจ สิงหจันทร์ หัวหน้าฝ่ายการตลาด บริษัท แอลจี อีเลคทรอนิคส์ (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด

นายพันธุ์เพิ่มศักดิ์ อารุณี รักษาการที่ปรึกษาด้านพัฒนาการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม สำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม (อว.) ได้กล่าวปาฐกถาในหัวข้อ "แนวทางนโยบายของกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัย และนวัตกรรม ท่ามกลางการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรุนแรงที่เกิดขึ้นจากเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI Disruption)" ว่า ปัญหาด้าน AI ของประเทศไทย พบว่ามี 2 ปัญหาหลัก คือ การขาดแคลนบุคลากรและการประยุกต์ใช้ AI ยังมีน้อย รวมไปถึงแผนพัฒนา ทางกระทรวง อว. จึงได้กำหนดนโยบาย อว. for AI มุ่งเน้นการดำเนินการใน 3 เสาหลัก ได้แก่

1. AI for Education : การใช้ AI ในการเรียนการสอนให้คนไทยมีศักยภาพสูงสุด และเร็วที่สุด
2. AI Workforce Development : การพัฒนาบุคลากรด้าน AI และการสร้างพื้นฐานด้าน AI ให้คนไทยในระบบการศึกษาและตลาดแรงงาน และ
3. AI Innovation : การสนับสนุนนวัตกรรม AI สู่ตลาด การพัฒนามาตรฐานและทดสอบ รวมถึงการส่งเสริมให้เกิดความแพร่หลายเพื่อยกระดับเศรษฐกิจไทย ซึ่งหากดูข้อมูลจากกระทรวงดิจิทัลเพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม พบว่า ปัจจุบันมีการขาดแคลนคนทำงานด้าน AI กว่า 8 หมื่นคน แต่คน AI กว่าครึ่งไม่ได้ทำงานด้าน IT และธุรกิจยังมีความต้องการจ้างคนไปทำวิจัยพัฒนาในสัดส่วนที่สูงที่สุด (ร้อยละ 35)

ในขณะที่ ดร.ภาวดี อังค์วัฒนะ รองผู้อำนวยการ บพค. เน้นย้ำว่า วิสัยทัศน์ของ บพค. ที่เป็นหน่วยงานขับเคลื่อน ส่งเสริม สานพลัง ระบบ ววน. ในการพัฒนากำลังคนสมรรถนะสูงและงานวิจัยขั้นแนวหน้า เพื่อตอบโจทย์อุตสาหกรรมแห่งอนาคตของประเทศไทยสู่อาเซียน ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับนโยบายของ อว. ด้าน AI Workforce Development ดังนั้น การพัฒนากำลังคนสมรรถนะสูงด้านเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ของประเทศแบบ demand driven ให้พร้อมรับการ disruption ของโลก จึงมีความสำคัญ ซึ่งเห็นได้จากการสนับสนุนทุนด้านพัฒนากำลังคน ด้าน AI ตั้งแต่ปี 2563 จนถึงปัจจุบัน ภายใต้โครงการ AI for All โดยเฉพาะโครงการ Super AI Engineer ได้พัฒนาวิศวกรด้าน AI และกลุ่มผู้ใช้เครื่องมือ AI Tools (AI Beginner/Prompt Engineer) จำนวนมาก โดยจากข้อมูลสถิติของสำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัย และนวัตกรรม ปีการศึกษา 2565-2566 มีบัณฑิตที่จบหลักสูตรสาขาเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์โดยตรง ไม่ถึง 500 คน โครงการ Super AI Engineer จึงมีส่วนในการเข้ามาช่วยแก้ปัญหาการขาดแคลนคนทำงานด้าน AI

ด้าน รศ.ดร.ปุ่น เที่ยงบูรณธรรม รองผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายแผนและยุทธศาสตร์องค์กร หน่วยบริหารและจัดการทุนด้านการพัฒนาระดับพื้นที่ (บพท.) กล่าวว่า ในบทบาทของ บพท. มุ่งเน้นการสร้างงาน     เพื่อต่อยอดกำลังคนด้าน AI ที่มีอยู่สู่ชุมชน หรือ AI Localization ซึ่งเป็นการเชื่อมโยงการพัฒนากำลังคน จาก บพค. สู่การสร้างงาน ในชุมชน ด้วย บพท.

โครงการ Super AI Engineer Season 5

สำหรับโครงการ Super AI Engineer ในปีนี้เป็น Season ที่ 5 แล้ว ซึ่งตั้งแต่ Season 1-4 ที่ผ่านมา ก็ได้รับความสนใจเป็นอย่างมาก มีผู้สมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการรวมมากกว่า 33,000 คน และ Super AI Engineer Season 5 นี้ เป็นการเสริมสร้างและพัฒนาศักยภาพบุคลากรให้มีทักษะด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ ที่สามารถเข้าสู่อุตสาหกรรมได้จริง มีศักยภาพทัดเทียมระดับสากล ภายใต้กำลังคน 3 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ นวัตกร (AI Innovator) วิศวกร (AI Engineer) และนักวิจัยระดับสูง (AI Researcher) พร้อมต่อยอดเป็นผู้ประกอบการวิสาหกิจเริ่มต้น (AI Solopreneur/AI Entrepreneur) และเป็นผู้มีทักษะในการถ่ายทอดและแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ได้ (AI Instructor) รวมไปถึงการพัฒนาระบบนิเวศการพัฒนากำลังคนด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI Workforce Development Ecosystem) และกระตุ้นความสนใจและเกิดความร่วมมือเข้าสู่การพัฒนาศักยภาพปัญญาประดิษฐ์ให้กับประชาชนทุกระดับ และสุดท้ายเป็นการสร้างกรอบมาตรฐานคุณวุฒิวิชาชีพด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ เชื่อมโยงไปยังธนาคารหน่วยกิต (Credit Bank) ที่มีอยู่ ให้รองรับการพัฒนากำลังคนด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ขั้นสูง

ทั้งนี้โครงการได้รับความร่วมมือจาก 3 หน่วยงานหลัก เพื่อขับเคลื่อนกิจกรรมได้แก่ 1. สมาคมปัญญาประดิษฐ์ประเทศไทย (AIAT) 2. ศูนย์เทคโนโลยีอิเล็กทรอนิกส์และคอมพิวเตอร์แห่งชาติ (NECTEC) 3. มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลธัญบุรี (RMUTT)

ดร.เทพชัย ทรัพย์นิธิ นายกสมาคมปัญญาประดิษฐ์ประเทศไทย (AIAT) กล่าวว่า “ด้วยพันธกิจของสมาคมปัญญาประดิษฐ์ประเทศไทย ที่ต้องการส่งเสริมให้เกิดระบบนิเวศปัญญาประดิษฐ์ หรือ AI Ecosystem นั้น กำลังคน จะเป็นพื้นฐานที่สำคัญของการขับเคลื่อน ดังนั้น การสร้างและพัฒนา ให้คน มีความรู้ มีการพัฒนาความสามารถ ด้าน AI และเป็นคนที่มีมาตรฐานตามสมรรถนะของบุคคลในการประกอบอาชีพ รวมไปถึงการเชื่อมโยงเครือข่าย โดยสมาคม ฯ เป็นสื่อกลางในการดำเนินงาน ซึ่งส่งผลให้ประเทศมีความเข้มแข็ง และขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจ อุตสาหกรรม ของประเทศไทย ได้อย่างยั่งยืน”

ผศ.ดร.นงนุช เกตุ้ย หัวหน้าโครงการ Super AI Engineer Season 5 กล่าวว่า “แผนปฏิบัติการด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์แห่งชาติเพื่อการพัฒนาประเทศไทย (พ.ศ. 2565 - 2570) ซึ่งมี 5 ยุทธศาสตร์ ได้แก่ 1. ด้านจริยธรรมและกฎระเบียบ AI 2. ด้านโครงสร้างพื้นฐานสำหรับ AI 3. ด้านกำลังคน AI 4. ด้านวิจัยพัฒนาและนวัตกรรม AI และ 5. ด้านการส่งเสริมธุรกิจและการใช้ AI โดยมีการใช้นวัตกรรม AI ดังนั้นกิจกรรมของโครงการ Super AI Engineer ปีนี้ จึงเกิด Track ใหม่อีก 2 Track เพิ่มขึ้นจากเดิม ทำให้ในปีนี้ จะแบ่งเป็น 3 Track ได้แก่ 

• Track 1 : AI Innovator มุ่งสร้างนวัตกรด้านเอไอ ที่สามารถใช้ AI Software, AI Tools / API มาทำเป็นแอป, ทำเป็นบริการ, หรือมาช่วยแก้ปัญหาขององค์กร ชุมชน หรือปัญหาที่มีได้ ซึ่ง Track นี้เป็น Track ใหม่ 
• Track 2 : AI Engineer มุ่งสู่การเป็นวิศวกรเอไอ ที่สามารถพัฒนาโมเดล AI เพื่อประยุกต์กับงานด้านต่าง ๆ ซึ่ง Track นี้เป็น Track ที่มีอยู่เดิม
• Track 3 : AI Researcher มุ่งเน้นเผยแพร่องค์ความรู้ AI ใหม่ ๆ ในวงการวิชาการระดับสากล ซึ่ง Track นี้เป็น Track ใหม่เช่นกัน

ผลลัพธ์ที่เกิดขึ้น จะสอดคล้องกับแผนปฏิบัติการด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์แห่งชาติ ในยุทธศาสตร์ 3, 4, 5 นั่นเอง

นอกจากนี้ต้องขอบคุณศูนย์ประสานงานเครือข่ายภูมิภาค 5 ศูนย์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ศาลายา มหาวิทยาลัยบูรพา มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตภูเก็ต ที่ได้ขับเคลื่อนร่วมกันมาตั้งแต่ Season 1-4 และในปีนี้ทางโครงการ ฯ ได้ขยายความร่วมมือ เครือข่ายมหาวิทยาลัยกลุ่มมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคล กลุ่มมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎ เช่น ราชมงคลธัญบุรี ราชมงคลล้านนา ราชภัฎบุรีรัมย์ ราชภัฎกำแพงเพชร และอีกหลาย ๆ หน่วยงาน ที่กำลังประสาน เพื่อเข้ากิจกรรม พัฒนากำลังคนในกลุ่ม AI Innovator อีกด้วย

ภาครัฐ, เอกชน, และประชาสังคม ร่วมขับเคลื่อนพัฒนากำลังคนด้าน AI ของประเทศไทย

คุณอำนาจ สิงหจันทร์ หัวหน้าฝ่ายการตลาด บริษัท แอลจี อีเลคทรอนิกส์ กล่าวว่า แอลจีเล็งเห็นความสำคัญของการพัฒนาบุคคลากรด้าน AI และในฐานะผู้นำ ด้านเทคโนโลยีที่มีประสบการณ์การประยุกต์ใช้ AI ในชีวิตประจำวัน มีความมุ่งมั่นที่ จะร่วมผลักดันในการเสริมสร้างกำลังคนด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ให้กับประเทศไทย จึงได้ร่วมสนับสนุนโน้ตบุ๊ก LG gram มูลค่ารวมกว่า 2.4 ล้านบาท เพื่อสนับสนุนโครงการ Super AI Engineer 

คุณกวีวุฒิ  เต็มภูวภัทร Chief Innovation Officer, SCBX

นอกจากนี้ คุณกวีวุฒิ  เต็มภูวภัทร Chief Innovation Officer, SCBX ได้กล่าวว่า “ในยุคที่ AI เป็นตัวขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจ SCBX เล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญของการพัฒนาทักษะบุคลากรด้าน AI จึงร่วมสนับสนุนโครงการ Super AI Engineer รวมถึง การลงทุนและสร้าง AI Sandbox สำหรับการวิจัยและพัฒนา และ SCBX ยังมุ่งพัฒนา โครงสร้างพื้นฐานด้าน AI ของไทย ผ่าน Typhoon – Large Language Model (LLM) ของไทย ที่ถูกออกแบบมาให้ตอบโจทย์การใช้งานของคนไทยโดยเฉพาะ เพื่อเสริมศักยภาพการสร้างนวัตกรรม AI ที่สามารถนำไปใช้ได้จริงในภาคธุรกิจและอุตสาหกรรมหลักของประเทศ โดยได้ให้ผู้เข้าอบรม Super AI Engineer เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการพัฒนา Typhoon LLM ด้วย”

ด้าน บริษัท หัวเว่ย เทคโนโลยี่ (ประเทศไทย) จํากัด ได้สนับสนุน Huawei Cloud  ซึ่งคุณสุรศักดิ์ วนิชเวทย์พิบูล CTO Huawei Cloud Thailand ที่ได้มาร่วมงานด้วย กล่าวว่า “หัวเว่ยได้สร้าง Huawei Cloud ในประเทศไทย และพร้อมสนับสนุนทรัพยากรด้าน Cloud Computing เพื่อให้ผู้เข้าร่วมโครงการสามารถเข้าถึงเครื่องมือและแพลตฟอร์ม AI ที่ทันสมัยได้อย่างเต็มที่ ซึ่งจะช่วยให้การพัฒนาโซลูชั่นและโมเดล AI มีประสิทธิภาพสูง รองรับการประมวลผลข้อมูลขนาดใหญ่ และช่วยให้นักพัฒนา AI ไทยสามารถแข่งขันในระดับสากลได้ เราหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าความร่วมมือนี้จะช่วยยกระดับศักยภาพของนักพัฒนา AI ในประเทศไทยให้เติบโตไปพร้อมกับอุตสาหกรรมเทคโนโลยีทั่วโลก ซึ่งต้องขอขอบคุณโครงการ Super AI Engineer ที่ให้โอกาส Huawei Cloud ได้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการขับเคลื่อนอนาคตของ AI ไทยตั้งแต่ Season 1 และเราพร้อมที่จะเดินหน้าร่วมมือกันต่อไป เพื่อสร้างระบบนิเวศที่แข็งแกร่งสำหรับนักพัฒนา AI ในทุกระดับ”

นอกจากนี้ยังมีอีกหลายหน่วยงานทั้งภาครัฐ เอกชน และภาคประชาสังคม ที่ได้มาร่วมกันส่งเสริมการพัฒนากำลังคนด้าน AI ของประเทศไทยให้มีเพิ่มมากขึ้น เพื่อรับมือกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรุนแรงที่เกิดขึ้นจากเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ และเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันให้กับประเทศไทย

“Super AI Engineer Season 5” Unites Public, Private, and Civil Sectors to Build Thailand's AI Workforce for Global Competitiveness

As artificial intelligence (AI) technology plays an increasingly crucial role in today’s world, AI knowledge and skills have become essential. The development of AI talent is therefore a crucial factor in adapting to changes in the labor market and industry shifts, driving economic growth, and enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness on a global stage. 

This necessity has led to the establishment of the Super AI Engineer program. On February 20, 2025, the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand (AIAT), the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) held a press conference announcing the collaboration between public and private sector organizations in advancing AI talent development. This initiative aims to cultivate AI innovators, engineers, and researchers to support the country’s industrial development in the face of rapid global transformations under the Super AI Engineer Season 5 project.

The event was honored by Phanpermsak Arunee, Ph.D. Acting Advisor for Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation Development of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), who presided over the event and addressed "Policy Directions of MHESI Amidst the Severe Changes from AI Disruption."

Additionally, Pavadee Aungkavattana, Ph.D. Deputy Director of Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), presented on 'PMU-B and the Development of High-Competency AI Talent.' Thepchai Supnithi, Ph.D. President of Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand, gave a talk on "AI and Human Development Towards Sustainability."

The event also featured a special panel discussion on "How AI Talent Development Can Benefit Thailand?" with distinguished speakers, including Sawit Kasuriya, Ph.D., Deputy Executive Director of The National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poon Thiengburanathum, Vice President from Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMUA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, the President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Mr. Kaweewut Tong Temphuwapat Chief Innovation Officer of SCBX, and Mr. Amnaj Singhachan, Head of Marketing at LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., 

This event reflected the strong collaboration between the public sector, private sector, and civil society in driving the development of AI talent. Many executives from organizations involved in the Super AI Engineer Season 5 project, as well as supporting organizations, attended the event, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Nongnuch Ketui, Head of the Super AI Engineer Season 5 project, and  Executive from LG, SCBX, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., AXONS Corporate, The Pine Resort, AltoTech Global Co., Ltd., SCG, Business Online Public Company Limited, Touch Tech Solution Company Limited, the Regional Network Coordination Centers, affiliated universities, NSTDA Supercomputer Center: ThaiSC, Digital Council of Thailand, Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMUA), Bank of Thailand, Hospital of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, and Artificial Intelligence Entrepreneur Association of Thailand (AIEAT).

Phanpermsak Arunee, Ph.D. Acting Advisor for Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation Development of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) stated that Thailand faces 2 major AI-related challenges: a shortage of skilled personnel and the adoption of AI remains limited. In response, the Ministry has established the "MHESI for AI" policy, focusing on 3 key pillars: 1. AI for Education – Utilizing AI in teaching and learning to maximize the potential of Thai citizens as efficiently and rapidly as possible. 2. AI Workforce Development – Developing AI talent and establishing a strong AI foundation for individuals in the education system and labor market. 3. AI Innovation – Supporting AI-driven innovations for commercialization, developing AI standards and testing, and promoting widespread adoption to enhance Thailand’s economy. According to data from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, there is currently a shortage of over 80,000 AI professionals in Thailand. However, more than half of AI-trained individuals do not work in IT-related fields. Meanwhile, businesses still have the highest demand for hiring AI talent for research and development, which accounts for the highest proportion of job openings in the sector (35%).

Pavadee Aungkavattana, Ph.D. Deputy Director of Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), emphasized the agency’s vision as a key driver in fostering collaboration within the Science Research and Innovation (SRI) system. Their goal is to develop highly skilled personnel and cutting-edge research to support Thailand’s future industries and strengthen its position in ASEAN. This vision aligns with the AI Workforce Development policy of MHESI. Therefore, demand-driven development of high-competency AI professionals is crucial in preparing Thailand for global AI disruptions. This is evident in the continuous funding support for AI workforce development since 2020, under the "AI for All" initiative, particularly through the Super AI Engineer program. This program has contributed significantly to training AI engineers and AI tool users (AI Beginners / Prompt Engineers). According to statistics from Office of the Permanent Secretary (OPS), MHESI Thailand, during the 2022-2023 academic year, fewer than 500 graduates specialized in AI-related disciplines. The Super AI Engineer program, therefore, plays a vital role in addressing Thailand's AI workforce shortage.

Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Poon Tiangboonratham, PhD, Deputy Director of Planning and Organizational Strategy at the Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMU-A), stated that PMU-A focuses on job creation to further develop existing AI talent and integrate them into local communities, a concept known as AI Localization. This initiative serves as a bridge, linking the AI talent development efforts of the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B) to community-based employment opportunities through the Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMU-A).

Super AI Engineer Season 5

Super AI Engineer, now in its fifth season, has seen immense interest from its first through fourth seasons, attracting more than 33,000 applicants. Super AI Engineer Season 5 aims to further enhance AI talent development by equipping individuals with industry-relevant AI skills to meet global standards. The program focuses on 3 key groups: AI Innovators, AI Engineers, and AI Researchers. It also provides pathways for participants to become AI entrepreneurs (AI Solopreneur/AI Entrepreneur) and AI instructors, contributing to the development of the AI workforce ecosystem. Furthermore, the program fosters collaboration to expand AI capabilities across all sectors and establish professional AI qualification standards linked to Thailand’s credit bank system for advanced AI talent development.

This year, the program is driven by three key organizations: The Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand (AIAT), The National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), and Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT).

Thepchai Supnithi, Ph.D. President of Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand, emphasized that fostering a thriving AI ecosystem requires a strong talent foundation. By developing AI professionals with certified competencies, the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand (AIAT) aims to strengthen the country’s AI-driven industries and economy sustainably.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nongnuch Ketui, Head of the Super AI Engineer Season 5 project, highlighted that the National AI Action Plan (2022-2027) encompasses five strategic pillars: 1) AI Ethics and Regulations, 2) AI Infrastructure, 3) AI Workforce Development, 4) AI Research and Innovation, and 5) AI Business Promotion. In response, this year’s program introduces two new tracks, making a total of three:

• Track 1: AI Innovator – Focused on creating AI solutions using existing AI software, AI tools, and APIs to develop applications and services for various sectors. (new track)
• Track 2: AI Engineer – Designed for AI engineers developing AI models for practical applications. (previously established track)
• Track 3: AI Researcher – Aimed at advancing AI research and academic contributions at the international level. (new track)

These initiatives thus align with Thailand’s AI Action Plan strategies 3, 4, and 5.
Additionally, appreciation is extended to the 5 Regional Network Coordination Centers — Chiang Mai University, Khon Kaen University, Mahidol University (Salaya), Burapha University, and Prince of Songkla University (Phuket Campus)—for their continuous collaboration since Season 1 to Season 4. This year, the project has expanded its partnerships to include the Rajamangala University of Technology network and the Rajabhat University network, such as Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Buriram Rajabhat University, Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University, and several other institutions that are currently in the process of joining the initiative. These collaborations aim to further develop human resources in the AI Innovator sector.

Additionally, Mr. Kaweewut Tong Temphuwapat Chief Innovation Officer, SCBX, stated that  “In an era where AI serves as a key driver of the economy, SCBX recognizes the importance of developing AI talent and has thus committed to supporting the Super AI Engineer program, alongside investing in and establishing an AI Sandbox for research and development. Furthermore, SCBX is dedicated to strengthening Thailand’s AI infrastructure through Typhoon – Thailand’s Large Language Model (LLM), which is specifically designed to cater to the needs of Thai users. This initiative aims to enhance AI innovation capabilities and facilitate practical AI applications across key industries and businesses in Thailand. The participants in the Super AI Engineer program Season 5 will have the opportunity to actively participate in the development of the Typhoon LLM.”

Meanwhile, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has supported Huawei Cloud. Surasak Wanichwetphiboon, CTO of Huawei Cloud Thailand, who also attended the event, stated that “Huawei has established Huawei Cloud in Thailand and is ready to support cloud computing resources to enable participants in the Super AI Engineer program to fully access cutting-edge AI tools and platforms. This will enhance the efficiency of AI solution and AI model development, support large-scale data processing, and empower Thai AI developers to compete on a global level. We sincerely hope that this collaboration will elevate the capabilities of AI developers in Thailand, allowing them to grow alongside the global technology industry. We also extend our gratitude to the Super AI Engineer program for providing Huawei Cloud the opportunity to be a part of Thailand’s AI future since Season 1. We remain committed to continuing this collaboration to build a robust AI ecosystem that supports developers at all levels.”

In addition, a wide range of organizations from the public, private, and civil society have come together to promote the development of AI professionals in Thailand, aiming to better prepare for the rapid changes driven by artificial intelligence technology and in enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness on the global stage.

Interested individuals can apply for the AI Innovator, AI Engineer, or AI Researcher tracks at superai.aiat.or.th by March 2, 2025, to be considered for Level 2 selection.

However, for those who want to just learn foundational AI through an online platform offering over hundred AI courses across various fields, with the flexibility to study anytime and anywhere, you can also apply at superai.aiat.or.th until October 31, 2025.

Once registered for the program, participants can start learning online immediately and free of charge throughout the entire program. Additionally, those who progress to Level 2 in each track will be eligible for financial support, which varies depending on the specific track.
